On April 6th, I weighed in at 175.0 - exactly 50 pounds lost from my best guess at my starting weight. Monday, I weighed in at 193.0. Dumb. Weeks of bad choices and letting busy-ness outrank healthy choices.
On the bright side, my eating has been spot-on since we got back from Orlando. This morning, I weighed in at 188.0. I’m hoping I’m back on track now. Although, we’re going to do Warrior Dash with some friends this weekend and then spend the night with another friend who lives in Clemson, SC (7-8 hour trip each way). Hopefully, I can draw up the resolve to make the healthiest choices possible over the weekend and get right back on it Monday when we get back (broken record anyone?). Thankfully, this is my last planned trip for a while. Next planned thing is the triathlon on June 11th.
Shoutout to Ben (Christwalk) for hitting the 100s and for a birthday! And Justin (jlsmit) for recognizing the slippery slope and calling himself out on it. Good job guys.

Starting Weight - 225
Last time I did WIW (?) - 3/16/11 - 176.2
Today - 175.0
Past three weeks - 1.2 pounds lost
Total loss - 50 pounds (!)
I think I’m going to set my next goal at 169. I haven’t seen the 160s since I was about 21 (and then it was only briefly). So yeah, that’s my next goal. To see the 160s! Guess I should put a date on that, huh? I’m going to say 1 pound per week, so May 18th. I will be in the 160s by May 18th. Cause I always stick to my written goals! (sarcasm…)
That will put me right on the edge of the normal/overweight BMI line. BMI blah blah blah. Also, I think this is the first time I’ve ever set a goal of less than 2 pounds per week. Perhaps a little more realistic at this point?

So we’re on day 5 of Paleo. There is an entire chapter of Robb Wolf’s book devoted to sleep. He recommends you:
As a backup, I’ve set the alarm on my phone for the absolute latest time we could get up and make it to work on time. Robb’s beef with the alarm clock is that it wakes you suddenly and is an additional stressor on our already (hormonally) stressed bodies. The alarm awakened us for work on Monday and Tuesday. But this morning, I woke up at 4:30am. I was wide awake. This is not me. I am NOT a morning person. And I was not happy about getting out of bed at 4:30am. But I got up and actually felt great. I packed up the food I had cooking in the crockpot over night. I went through the mail. I caught up on Words with Friends. Cleaned a bit. And cooked breakfast all before waking Brook up.
I’m curious to see how I feel at bedtime tonight. Whether I’m absolutely beat from getting up so early, or if I’m just ready for bed. One problem is that we usually feel most awake when it’s time to go to bed. Robb attributes that to hormonal imbalances.
So as I was thinking about today’s weigh-in, I wondered what my past weigh-ins have been. I think I may need to start a running tab where I can see these at a glance. Looking at just this week and last week’s weights doesn’t show you patterns. The lowest weight I’ve seen was about 174 last summer before our cruise vacation. I gained some weight on vacation, then gained more weight during marathon training. And I’ve been fighting those same pounds ever since last August. I’ve finally broken out of the 180s again and hope to hit a new all time low very soon. I haven’t been below 174 since I turned 21. I’ll be 30 next month.
So here are the weigh-ins I had tagged on my blog and could find easily:
11/3/10 - 183.4
11/10/10 - 185.4
11/17/10 - 184.6
12/15/10 - 190.4
12/22/10 - 184.2
12/29/10 - 188.2
1/5/11 - 185.0
1/12/11 - 184.6
1/19/11 - 182.2
1/26/11 - 186.0
2/23/11 - 182.8
3/2/11 - 180.2
3/9/11 - 179.6
3/16/11 - 176.2
Only 12 days until the end of our local Biggest Loser competition and 26 days until my 30th birthday. I hope the past few weeks’ weigh-in trend continues.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I did go WAY over my calories on Friday. As shortmom said, “friday looks deeeelicious”!
However, even going over by almost 1,700 calories on Friday, mathematically and biologically speaking, that’s only enough calories to make up slightly less than half a pound. And I kicked butt the rest of the week staying around 1,250 net calories each day. Which I think should have netted me around a 3 pound loss for the week. To sum it up, I think next week’s weigh-in is going to be better as long as I keep everything under control this week.
(Last week was an anomaly as we went out with friends Friday AND Saturday night, when we normally hardly ever go out with friends. So we shouldn’t be seeing that big spike again anytime soon.)
Hope everyone else has a good WIW!
Edit - And to be in the 170s again - woohoo!

I finally feel like I’m getting back on the right track. My knee is allowing me to run. Myfitnesspal is a lot of help in tracking my calories. Brook got the go ahead last week to start putting pressure on her leg again (broken 12/29/10). Hopefully she will be driving again soon and that will allow me to go to evening bootcamp classes. And hopefully she will soon be able to start doing light exercise again too - walking, stationary bike, etc. It’s such a help when you can do it together. And so hard watching her go from a half-marathon on 12/4/10 to not even being able to walk for the past 9 weeks.
In any case, things are looking up. And that’s a good thing!

The WIW sucks edition. 186.0. Whatever.
Edit - sorry for the negativity. I don’t really think I gained 4 pounds this week. Expecting a big number next week. We shall see…

This is awesome. I was really concerned that I wouldn’t hit this week’s goal after the damage done last Thursday night when we went out to eat. The only way I managed to pull it off is Monday’s ridiculous workout session. Score.

SW: 225
LW: 185.0, 28.1% BF
30by30 Goal: 184
TW: 184.6, 28.4% BF
I’m cool with this number. It’s a little above my goal for the week, but it’s not like I can realistically expect to hit it right on. And while it’d be awesome, I’m not aiming at being below target.
While I only lost 0.4 by the scale this week, I think last week’s weigh in was artificially low due to running late Tuesday night.
SW = Starting weight, LW = Last week, 30by30 = click link for explanation, TW = This week, BF = Body fat.

SW: 225
LW: 188.2, 28.5% BF
30by30 Goal: 186
TW: 185.0, 28.1% BF
This number is probably artificially low due to last night’s late run, so I will just have to work hard this week to make sure I meet next week’s 30by30 goal too.
My next short range goal is 25% BF - the highest number in the “acceptable” range - which I estimate will be around 180 pounds for me. 30by30 has me getting there on January 26th.
SW = Starting weight, LW = Last week, 30by30 = click link for explanation, TW = This week, BF = Body fat.

SW: 225

So (by the scale), I gained 4 pounds this week. I am TOTALLY cool with this. Especially since Monday, I was 191-point-I-don’t-know-because-I-was-too-busy-cussing-to-see-the-point-whatever-it-was. And yes, this was yet another new high in over a year.
Plus, as I mentioned last week, I had not really been eating because Brook was out of town, and I was just that lazy. So last week’s weight was probably artificially low. And while I did good the first of our three days of our family Christmas get-togethers, I did not do well the next two. Or the following day of leftovers. So since I’m only 0.2 over my 30by30 goal, I’ll take it!
SW = Starting weight, LW = Last week, TW = This week, BF = Body fat.
